Hello,
Greetings from SASHA.
Announcing the 42nd SASHA workshop in the Compliance and Beyond Series.
Theme:
Identity and Bias in POSH Inquiries
A POSH Internal Committee (IC) is tasked with redressing complaints of sexual harassment, which is an extremely specific and specialized subject matter, by conducting a fact-finding inquiry into the alleged incidents.
However, workplace sexual harassment does not occur in isolation, and context can become extremely relevant, especially in relation to the dynamic between the parties in the time leading up to the alleged incidents. It has been found that in providing such context, parties sometimes make statements through their words or even their visual appearance, concerning social and identity markers such as gender or sexual orientation, age, class, caste, marital status and other aspects. While in some cases these may prove to be relevant in arriving at Findings, in other instances, overreliance by the IC on the same can lead to a biased outcome.
What are these social factors that can influence IC members, and to what extent is this justified? Attend our workshop to find out.
Who should attend?
Employees, HR, IC members, anyone interested in understanding how social and identity markers of parties can show up in POSH inquiries, and how to prevent these from triggering unconscious biases.
